Will Game Consoles have a place in the future of gaming?

With the recent launch of the latest next-generation game consoles by Sony PlayStations and Microsoft Xbox – the PS5 and the series X/S , while some people are extremely happy with the box they have, some aren’t, some still would have preferred PCs, it’s only proper for us to look into the possibilities of whether or not these game consoles will have a place in the future of gaming. Stick around and grab a drink, its going to be quite a read!

Brief History of how Game Consoles was invented

The man largely credited as “the father of video games” died at age 92, according to a report from Gamasutra. Ralph Baer, a German immigrant and inventor, created the very first home video game console in the late ‘60s. It was simply called the “Brown Box,” and it later came to be known as the Magnavox Odyssey in 1972 after he licensed out the design.

okay, now that you know who invented them, lets get into the more juicy stuff – Exclusive Games.

Exclusive Games on Game Consoles

So as we know there are different kind of exclusive games, I’ll cut to the chase. there are three important types of exclusive games

  • Full Exclusive – Games released exclusively on one console.
  • Platform Exclusive – Games released exclusively on a single family of consoles.
  • Console Exclusive – Games released for a single console (or family of consoles) in addition to PC and / or smartphone.

This right here people, is literally the saving grace for consoles, of course both Sony and Microsoft has added incredibly advanced features and components to consoles, like the additions of SSDs and even more RAMs and VRAMs , but without this exclusives that these consoles are offering, these companies will not see a great turnout in sales, for example a lot of folks are interested in the Sony’s PS5 because of the sweet exclusives on it, like the God of War : Ragnarok and the hyped up Spider Man : Miles Morales , is like folks aren’t even hyped about the hardware, which is what Xbox is offering, they care more about the games – This begs a question, will these Exclusives save the Consoles much more longer? let’s continue reading shall we?

Game Consoles Price

Compared to a gaming PC, Consoles are incredibly cheaper, the latest next-gen consoles recently launched are priced $399 – $499 , to be fair that’s really cheap compared to a gaming PC rounding up to $1000 – $5000 , so the prices are also a saving grace for these game consoles manufacturers, but unfortunately, that’s not always going to be the case, now is it? the thing is, as time moves on and years after years, these manufacturers will add incredibly awesome features to these consoles, and guess what? they wont still price it at as little as $399, I’m betting with super advanced gaming capabilities these manufacturers are offering, they’ll start pricing higher than a grand, and at that point, it’ll make sense for folks to just get a PC, Consoles may not end up doing too well.

Gaming is a always changing world, from the games it self, to the appliances you use to play them including gaming PCs and Game Consoles, we can never tell what’s gonna happen tomorrow, in my opinion I think that the consoles may not really last in the gaming market for a very long time, it’ll end up be a gift for a 12 year old and less for professional gaming or advanced gaming. I think even Microsoft realizes this, they are gradually turning Xbox into more of a service.

But hey, I might be wrong, I might have missed a point, we can discuss, unfortunately comments on here are turned off for now cause we’re dealing with spammers at the moment, I couldn’t possibly allow my readers to participate in a currently unfriendly environment, follow us over at twitter, why don’t you come over there join me and lets have a talk on how things will turn out?
